Books are a great way to learn about life, relationships, business, career, health, and more. They’re also a great way to expand your mind and open yourself up to new possibilities.
Books to read for personal growth are always a good idea. I’ve created this list of books that will help you grow as a person. These books can be read at your own pace and they will definitely have a positive impact on your life.
1. Atomic Habits by James Clear
A remarkable book in which James Clear very effectively explains how small (atomic) changes to one’s daily routine can yield fantastic results in the long run.
This book teaches the importance of building constructive habits, and provides a framework for how to remove areas of inefficiency and resistance from your life. It breaks down exactly how and why we form habits, and further, it explains how we can go about changing our destructive habits to materialize growth and success.
The author explains that real change comes not from one-off acts of motivation or courage, but from the compounded effect of hundreds of small decisions made on a daily basis, that appear insignificant at first, but in the end lead to remarkable results.
This book changed me personally. It is an extremely practical read and it changed the trajectory of my life. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to change certain aspects of their current lifestyle. Reading it will effectively convey how just a daily improvement of 1% can yield extraordinary results in your life, with consistency and patience.
Whether your goal is to workout more, to read more frequently or to teach yourself a new skill, this book will help you with it’s ideas.
2. Principles by Ray Dalio
In Principles, Dalio argues that life, management, economics and investing can all be systemized into rules and understood like machines. While the book is full of novel ideas for organizations and institutions, Principles also offers a clear, straightforward approach to decision-making that Dalio believes anyone can apply, no matter what they’re seeking to achieve.
Principles is easily one of my favourite reads. The book contains a mix of history, theory, practical advice and principles relevant to both personal and business contexts. The author delivers all this in a book that’s very easy to read and understand.
3. The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey
This book shows you the simplest, most straightforward game plan for completely making over your money habits. The Total Money Makeover will show you how to recognize the 10 most dangerous money myths and change your thinking about money.
It teaches a practical and effective method of getting out of debt, and staying out of debt. It shows you how to design a plan to pay off debt like student loans, car loans, and home mortgages fast. It will also show you how to save for emergencies, and retirement.
This book has been an eye-opener for me in terms of Financial Literacy. I highly recommend it to anyone aspiring for Financial Freedom.
4. The Power Of Habit by Charles Duhigg
If you want to improve your work and personal life and health, then the Power of Habit is the book for you. This book is a great way to learn more about the power of habits, and how they can be used to improve your life in many different ways. Being able to comprehend how habits are formed and why they exist gives you a unique perspective on life.
A profound quote from the book goes like this:
“Champions don’t do extraordinary things. They do ordinary things, but they do them without thinking, too fast for the other team to react. They follow the habits they’ve learned.”
The Power of Habit has been one of the most life-changing books for me. This book not only teaches you the value of good habits but also why you should stay away from bad habits.
5. Change Your Thoughts – Change Your Life by Wayne Dyer
In this book, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer has written 81 distinct essays on how to apply the ancient wisdom of Lao-tzu to today’s modern world. This work contains the entire 81 verses of the Tao, compiled from Wayne’s researching of 12 of the most well-respected translations of text that have survived for more than 25 centuries. Each chapter is designed for actually living the Tao or the Great Way today.
This is a work to be read slowly, one essay a day. As Dr. Dyer says, “This is a book that will forever change the way you look at your life, and the result will be that you’ll live in a new world aligned with nature.”
I haven’t had a chance to read this book yet, but hope to get to it one of these days.
